Family Protection
law
Your father dies and leaves you with a token sum of money. Or your mother's property passes on to her second husband, leaving nothing for you and your siblings. Is this the end of the matter?
The Family Protection Act is intended to
recognise a parent or grandparent's moral obligation to provide for the family. A Court is empowered to "re-write" the
will so that appropriate provision is made. Often
a settlement can be negotiated without the need to
go to Court.
If you are dissatisfied with the inheritance you have been left, have missed
out or need to defend a family protection claim, please call us.
